Let's find out!","content":"<h2>It's National Jellyfish Day<\/h2><p>Hello!<br \/><br \/>Today is the day to celebrate those slippery and mysterious creatures of the shallows and the deep.<\/p><p><\/p><p><strong><em>But what do jellyfish have to do with tech?<\/em><\/strong><em> I hear you ask.<\/em><\/p><p><\/p><p>Watch as I show you how jellyfish and tech are as intertwined as a tentacle around a rock. What the Fish?<\/h3><p><strong>Microplastics = bad.<\/strong> It\u2019s why it\u2019s important to us at She Techs to use natural materials like organic cotton. Natural materials are compatible with nature and they\u2019re a solution to pollution.<\/p><p><\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>She Techs plastic elimination stats so far are: 6,601g, equivalent to 330 plastic bottles<\/em><\/p><p><\/p><p>A 2017 report from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimated that 35% of all microplastics in the ocean came from the washing of synthetic textiles like polyester. These tiny fibres and flakes of plastics come off clothes in the washing machine and end up in our rivers, lakes, seas. <br \/><br \/>After being digested by wildlife, these bioaccumulate through food chains and back into human digestive systems. This is really not good.<\/p><p><\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong>Immediate change is as simple as making clothes from plants, not plastic.<\/strong><\/p><p><\/p><p><\/p><p>Here's an excerpt from this <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/planethome.eco\/how-jellyfish-can-help-us\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>eye-opening article<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>about <strong>how jellyfish mucus (yep) can help in the fight against microplastics.<\/strong> Absolutely fascinating.<br \/><br \/>\u201cJellyfish mucus has an absorbing property that can catch microplastics that are present in water. Pulsing along on our ocean currents, these jelly-like creatures can be found in waters both cold and warm, deep and shallow and along coastlines, too. Some jellyfish are clear, but others are vibrant colours of pink, yellow, blue and purple.
